James says:
“But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who acts—this person will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:25 HCSB)
How many times do we read a piece of scripture, consider what its practice would look like in our lives, and continue living the way we did before reading the passage? Unfortunately, too many times to count.
The book of James offers very practical ideas without a lot of fluff. James gives us his message straight forward—no if’s, and’s, or but’s.
With that in mind, those of us at the Christian Campus House are spending this semester digging into James’ words and putting them into practice. In addition to the large group study and family group discussions, each weekday a new devotional thought will be posted to create more opportunities to share and sharpen each other as we “look intently into the perfect law.” (For more on the devotion writers, check out the contributors page.)
Feel free to join us in this endeavor. The purpose is to share our thoughts as well as engage in meaningful conversation through comments. The readers of this blog should feel free to comment to the posts…and regular visitors and readers should engage in dialogue. Hopefully we can, through this discourse, encourage one another to wrestle with James’ words and understand better what he said in order to put what we read into practice.
