In Mark 6:30-44, the disciples recognized a need in the people who had come to hear Jesus; they needed food. When Jesus suggested that the disciples give them food, the disciples immediately tabulated the personal cost of what doing so would be. The cost was great and humanly impossible at that very moment. Jesus simply asked how much they did have. What amazes me is that Jesus took what little the people had and made it more than enough.
I think the same is true in our lives. We often see a need and immediately figure what the personal cost will be to take care of the need using our own means. Instead, we should trust Jesus to take what we already have (or what we have available to us) and turn it into more than enough for His work to be done.
